Caring for Silk
Each piece of eco-printed Habotai silk is a work of art—crafted slowly and intentionally using natural materials and traditional techniques. Before dyeing and printing, the silk is carefully prepared using various natural mordants to ensure colourfastness. This means the beautiful imprints and earthy tones are designed to last, while still honouring the organic nature of the textile.
Washing Instructions
Cold Hand Wash Only: Gently wash your silk in cold water by hand.
Optional Soap: If needed, use a mild, natural soap—no harsh detergents or bleach.
Do Not Rub or Soak: Simply swirl the silk gently, then rinse.
Drying
Air Dry Flat or on a Hanger: Avoid direct sunlight which may fade natural dyes.
Do Not Wring: Instead, press between towels to remove excess water.
Ironing
Cool Iron When Slightly Damp: If the silk has been folded or stored, a gentle iron will bring it back to life. Iron on the reverse side or use a pressing cloth to protect the surface.
Storing Your Silk
Fold or Hang: Either method is fine, depending on your space.
Breathable Conditions Best: Avoid sealed plastic. Natural fibres like silk benefit from air circulation.
A Living Fabric
Habotai silk is a natural fibre, which means it responds to its surroundings. In humid environments, it may crinkle slightly—simply give it a cool iron before wearing. But this sensitivity is also part of its magic: silk naturally insulates, keeping you cool in summer and warm in winter.
Stronger Than It Looks
Though it feels delicate, silk is one of nature’s strongest fibres. With just a little care, your eco-printed Habotai silk will remain a beautiful, wearable piece of art for years to come.
